Test your harmonic hearing with the Guess The Chord game. Build your streak by instantly identifying major, minor, diminished, and seventh chords by ear.
How it works
BananaTone will play a chord using a high-quality piano sample. Your job is to listen to the emotional quality of the chord and identify its type (e.g., Major, Minor, Dominant 7).
The root notes are randomized, so you can't rely on absolute pitch — you must listen to the internal structure and color of the chord itself.
The color of chords
Every chord type has a unique personality:
- Major is bright and happy.
- Minor is dark and melancholic.
- Diminished sounds tense, like a horror movie.
- Augmented sounds dreamy and floating.
Challenge yourself
Start with the classic Major vs Minor battle. Once you can easily build a streak of 20, open the settings and add Suspended chords (sus2, sus4) or Seventh chords to the mix to dramatically increase the difficulty.
