Ear Training for Singers

For vocalists, your ear is your instrument's steering wheel. If you can't hear a pitch accurately, you can't sing it accurately. Ear training is the fastest way to stop singing flat or sharp.

Why singers need ear training

Unlike a piano or guitar where the frets and keys decide the pitch, a singer must create the pitch entirely from their mind and body. Ear training sharpens your internal pitch map, allowing you to:

The Pitch Matching method

The best practice for singers is active pitch matching. When using our trainer:

  1. Listen to the note played.
  2. Sing it back out loud before you click an answer.
  3. Internalize how the note feels in your voice.

Beyond single notes

Once your pitch matching is perfect, move on to Interval training. Being able to confidently sing a perfect fourth or major sixth jump is what separates amateur singers from professionals.
