Diatonic intervals are the distances found naturally within a major scale, without any sharps or flats. Mastering these first makes navigating tonal music incredibly easy.

What are diatonic intervals?

If you start on the root note of a Major scale (Do) and jump to any other note in that scale, you are playing a diatonic interval. They are:

Notice a pattern? Every interval built from the root of a major scale is either Major or Perfect. There are no minor or diminished intervals when you measure upward from the root of a major key.

How to practice
