Ascending intervals (where the second note is higher than the first) are the easiest way to begin ear training, because they naturally mimic how we sing and recall popular melodies.

When a singer jumps for a high note, they are singing an ascending interval. Most of the "song association" tricks taught in music school (like using "Star Wars" for a perfect fifth) rely on ascending melodies. It is the most natural way for the human brain to process pitch distance.
